Staying in one position for more than four hours daily can contribute to lower back pain, musculoskeletal disorders, stress, obesity, neck and shoulder pain. Through COVID, we saw a much higher frequency of postural issues arising from people being seated whilst working at home.

Working at a computer can cause back, neck and shoulder pains, headache, eyestrain and overuse injuries of the arms and hands. You can help avoid computer-related injuries with proper (or ergonomic) furniture, improved posture and good working habits including incorporating moving and stretching.

Moving and stretching can make a significant impact to our health. Setting up a timer is a great start to remind you to stretch or take a quick walk.

Physical activity can improve your mood as well as your wellbeing, other ways to do that is getting a flexible standing desk, walking laps during quick meetings or getting up every hour for a small walk around the office.
