Are you wanting to avoid the flu without needles? As we head into Winter, our immune system battles increased exposure to flu & viruses.  Before heading to your GP, chemist or vitamin store, there is a natural immune boost without any nasty side effects.

As we head towards the colder months of the year, our immune system is one the first things to feel the increased exposure to the flu and viruses (pathogens).  While we often head to the shelves at the local chemist or vitamin store, simply using a mixture of mother nature’s immune boosting foods can do the trick without any nasty side effects. Vitamin C is the commonly referred ‘go-to’ vitamin for the flu or general un-wellness.  While many plant-based foods are loaded with vitamin C, they also contain a wide variety of vitamins & minerals that can help boost the immune system.

  • Lemon is naturally full of vitamin C; lemon also contains potassium, calcium, pectin fibre, B-vitamins and flavonoids.
  • Ginger contains anti-inflammatory properties that may help to fight pathogens. Ginger may also ease digestive problems and relief from nausea.
  • Honey naturally contains anti-bacterial properties that may aid the discomfort of a sore throat.
  • Apple cider vinegar helps alkalise the body; this alkalised state is thought to promote anti-inflammation and aid in the destruction of viruses and bacteria.
