Regrettably people get injured & the steps taken at the time of injury can reduce recovery time. Do you know what to do when you get injured?  If not or you are unsure, our team uses the PRICER process to identify steps to manage your injury.

  • Protection: Steer clear of exercises and movements that cause pain for now
  • Relative rest: Instead of completely resting after an injury, modify the activities you can do without pain without completely removing the workload – known as absolute rest
  • Ice: To help reduce pain and inflammation
  • Compression: Applying pressure through taping or a compression bandage may help reduce swelling within a joint.
  • Elevation: Raise the injured part, if possible, to promote fluid drainage
  • Referral: Call PROHEALTH PHYSIO & FITNESS on (02) 8317-7770 or see your doctor

Make an appointment to see a Physiotherapist in the first couple of days after your injury. Even though it is important to give your body time to heal after an injury, resting for too long has been shown to slow recovery.

So, what role does physiotherapy play after an injury? Physiotherapists have an in-depth understanding of how your body works and moves. We’re here to help you regain function, strength, flexibility and confidence after an injury and to help prevent it reoccurring.

Physiotherapists use a variety of techniques to improve movement, reduce pain and stiffness, speed up the healing process and increase quality of life.
