Understanding Ankle & Foot Injuries
Ankle and foot injuries are common in both athletic and non-athletic populations. It can be from something as simple as rolling your ankle on an uneven surface or during sports with stop-start turning like netball, soccer, rugby etc.
Sometimes ankle and foot pain can arise without an acute incident occurring. This commonly occurs when wearing inadequate footwear or a sudden increase in activity or training.
At PROHEALTH PHYSIO & FITNESS are proud of their sponsorship of both Lane Cove Football Club (LCFC) and Lane Cove Netball Club (LCNC), which sees plenty of ankle and foot related injuries come through our doors.
Our physiotherapists ensure a thorough examination is performed to give you an accurate diagnosis and realistic expectations of return to normal function or sport.
Through treatment, you can expect elements of soft tissue techniques, joint mobilisations, taping and/or dry needling to facilitate a decrease in pain and increase in function. This supplements our active recovery approach where you will be performing range of motion exercises, strengthening, balance and proprioception training.
Have a really bad sprain that needs immobilisation? We also fit and supply CAM Boots (moon boots) and a range of different braces helpful in return to sport/work.
Common conditions we treat include:
- Ankle sprains
- Syndesmosis injuries
