Many of us have had an ankle sprain in sport or general life & unfortunately ankle sprains can often be recurring. Thankfully there are ways to prevent ankle sprains from reoccuring including exercise based proprioception training.

Prevent Ankle Sprains – There is evidence that proprioceptive training can reduce recurrence of ankle sprains in the sporting population.

What is proprioceptive training you ask?

The word “proprioception” comes from latin meaning “one’s own grasp”; it refers to the sense of the relative position of a body part in space as well as the effort required for a task. For example, if you are blindfolded you would still know if your arm is by your side or above your head, or being able to pick up a plastic cup without crushing it.

Proprioceptive training is the further development of this sense, in this case for your ankle and its stability during sporting activities.
