  1. Move – Do you want to lower your risk of psychological distress? Do you want to improve your energy levels? Did you know exercise has an effective anti-aging effect? Well let’s get moving… Exercise does all this and much more.
  2. Eat real foods – Avoid eating food that is processed and contains a high amount of energy density, compared to foods made from fresh whole ingredients. A diet that is rich in whole foods, vegetables, whole grains, fish and leaner meats.
  3. Call your friends – A 2010 study assessed more than 300,000 people for an approx. 7.5 years and found that mortality risks associated with loneliness exceeded those associated with obesity and physical inactivity. Give your friends a call, meet up with them and a lunch.
  4. Sleep 8 hours a night – A 2007 found that each additional 90 min cycle of deep sleep per day would release more anabolic hormones such as testosterone and human growth hormone – which are critical to health and physical function. Sleep works wonders!
  5. Enjoy nature – Science shows us that spending time in nature will antidote ill health and effects of stress, such as helping those sufferers of anxiety and depression… so promote your physical and psychological restoration!
  6. Don’t smoke – Smoking can cause and lead to many associated cancers and heart disease conditions. In the United States, research has shown smoking to cause one out of every five deaths in the US. So, here’s your 7th tip – don’t smoke!
  7. Don’t drink too much – Excessive drinking has been shown to lead to many chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease and throat cancer. Excessive drinking has also shown to impact and impair daily function and tasks – however moderation is key, one drink per day for women and up to two per day for men carriers minimal risk.
